San Francisco has no shortage of amazing locations to capture the perfect image. I was excited and lucky to orchestrate an incredible senior portrait for an incredible young lady in an iconic location with two great spots just a stone's throw away from each other, Lands End and Legion of Honor. Not only were the locations incredible, but I had the privilege of capturing Natalie's senior photos to commemorate her final year in grade school.
Senior portraits are more than just immortalizing the final year of high school. It marks the end of an era; it's the last year they spend with their friends before they all go their separate ways. It's the year they become an adult. The senior photo captures them in a moment of time.
Natalie and her mother reached out to me wanting to schedule a shoot that truly captured Natalie's achievements and embodied who she is as a person. Much anticipation was built up as we planned and collaborated with amazing talented hairstylists, event planners, and a makeup artist to create the perfect photoshoot.

The plan was to hold the shoot in Land's End and Legion of Honor in San Francisco, California. During this session, Natalie and her mom planned out Natalie's wardrobe and what they wanted her to wear. Her outfits consisted of 4 special wardrobe changes. She would be featured in her school uniform, swimsuit, her fencing gear, and a lovely cocktail dress.
The day finally came, and we made our way up to the Legion of Honor and Lands End. Legion of honor, or more formally, the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, is an art museum. The building itself is a replica of the French Pavilion of the Palais de la Légion d'Honneur in Paris, France. The beautiful architecture makes for an incredible backdrop for any photo session.
To make the location even better, Land's End is just a short walk away, with sweeping views of the shoreline at the mouth of the Golden Gate. At Lands End, you get hillside views, get to see old shipwrecks, and enjoy the views of the ruins of the Sutro Baths. The Sutro Baths were an old saltwater swimming pool built in 1896 and destroyed in a fire in 1966.
The photoshoot was one of the more complex shoots we had to orchestrate. Working with a team and several outfit changes over an outdoor venue took some time and patience. Even with this being Natalie's first photoshoot, I was incredibly impressed with her ability to be so creative, patient, and flexible all throughout the length of the photoshoot. She was able to tap into her creativity through multiple outfit changes and match the feel and the ambiance of the entire photoshoot location.

Natalie is a very talented and athletic person. She had to change from an elegant cocktail dress to casual attire straight into athletic apparel. It amazed me at her ability to be so flexible. She has a busy schedule, and she stays on top of her athletics through it all. She was able to focus and complete the session with ease. Even with her big plans the next day, she had to travel to another state to compete in a fencing competition. Amazed doesn't even capture the feeling.
The images turned out spectacular, and both Natalie and her mom were happy with the memories we were able to create. These photos will last for a lifetime and were an experience we all won't soon forget.
