Kona Hawaii Destination Photography
The strong traditions and culture of Kailua-Kona (the Big Island of Hawaii) are only matched by its breathtaking seaside views. I joined this expecting couple (Mark and Ana) for a maternity shoot on the shores of Kona, the same town where Mark was raised. The couple and I both live in California and they invited me to be their maternity destination photographer on their “babymoon” to a place that holds so much significance to them. It was a beautiful tribute to his childhood while capturing a new era of life on the horizon.
A Few of Their Favorite Things
Mark grew up playing in the waters off the Kona seashore, so this maternity shoot felt like life had come full circle. Aside from its family values, this trip included some of the couple’s favorite things, including beautiful rock formations, delicious coffee, waterfalls, and most importantly, all of the couple’s special people behind the scenes.
What made this shoot extra special is that we traveled to the same beach and other places where Mark and Ana will also take their little one. This day was just the beginning of a new era, setting the stage for new memories to be made and the beautiful culture and scenery of Hawaii to be nurtured and appreciated by the next generation.
Kona-Kailua Set the Stage for Serenity
Visiting the Big Island brings a certain sense of peace and comfort. It truly is a VIP experience, from five-star hotels to fine dining experiences to a blend of nature and modern life where one never impedes the other.
Mark’s family fully embodied this culture, offering me amazing hospitality, tours of the island, and treating me to some of the island’s most luxurious hotels and restaurants. I learned more about Filipino politics and their their lifestyles here in KONA. It’s a place where tradition and culture are honored and not forgotten. It brings a person back to their roots, allowing you to focus on what’s truly important in life.
For Mark and Ana, that was sharing these special moments together before they become a family of three. From sunset backdrops to quiet walks along the beach, these serene Hawaiian beach vibes made this photoshoot almost effortless.
