Marshall's Beach San Francisco Bay Area Maternity Photography
A maternity photoshoot is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the long journey of pregnancy and document the beautiful changes a woman goes through as she grows new life. Although the maternity shoot is focused mostly on the new mom and the life she carries, the new dad is also involved. It can be an incredible moment for a bonding moment between mom and dad as they celebrate the new life they created.
Ashley and Arnulfo reached out to me to help capture this milestone in their life early on in Ashley’s pregnancy. They knew months ago they wanted to immortalize their journey and the pregnancy to create beautiful photographs they could enjoy and display.
Months in the making, we worked together to choose the concept that would capture Ashley and Arnulfo’s style and personality. For Ashley, choosing the perfect maternity dress was essential to help capture her beauty and make her feel stunning. Once we chose the concept and the dress, the next step was to decide on the perfect location. Finding a dreamy place to do a maternity shoot in San Francisco was tough to nail down as there are many incredible places in and around the city. We finally settled on the majestic and serene location of Marshall’s Beach in San Francisco, California.
Marshall’s Beach is a hidden gem just north of Baker Beach and the closest beach to the Golden Gate Bridge. The trek down is steep, and few tend to make their way down, making it a great place to hold a photoshoot without crowds of people and struggling to find a good view. The beach offers spectacular views of the Marin Headlands, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Pacific Ocean.
This photoshoot almost didn’t happen for us as a Tsunami warning left the beaches in San Francisco abandoned for safety. With a stroke of luck or a miracle, the tsunami warning was lifted the day after it was announced, allowing us to move forward with the photoshoot as planned.
The hike down to Marshall’s, being a steep one, was challenging for Ashley to make her way down. As a photographer, safety is one of the most important aspects of my job, so we took our time on the descent. I wanted to ensure everything was safe for both Ashley and the baby. Being seven months pregnant, Ashley didn’t let the steep climb stop her from her dream maternity photoshoot. She made her way down and showed no signs of being bothered in the slightest. She made the hike down with surprising and impressive ease, all while wearing a smile.
The weather was immaculate that day, creating the perfect backdrop for this incredible couple’s maternity photoshoot. The light wind added a lovely element showcasing the flow of the stunning maternity dress. The scene at Marshall’s Beach provided a picturesque backdrop of the natural stone cliffs in many of the shots, while we captured the beach and iconic bridge in others. Ashley and Arnulfo were a delight to work with, capturing this significant milestone in their life. I am thankful I was able to help document their journey.
A maternity photoshoot captures such an incredible moment in your life. Choosing to have a maternity photoshoot can happen at any time in your pregnancy. I know pregnancy can be a whirlwind, and things can change at any moment. Taking a few hours out of your day to capture these moments allows you and your family to look back on these precious memories fondly.
